Swagger & how important it is to you as a fighter
Heart, Will, Toughness, Poise etc. are all traits that fans of the sport readily identify with. "Man, Such n Such is tough as hell," or "Such n Such has a lot of heart." You hear it all of the time. But, a better question would be, how many times have you heard "Such n Such has swag?" You may even be asking yourself what the hell is swag and what does that mean?
Swag aka Swagger refers to ones personality and disposition. Everything from how one dresses to how he/she walks into a room, to how he/she sets themselves apart from everyone else in the general vicinity all come into account when measuring someones Swag. Swag could mean the difference in landing that multi-thousand/million dollar sponsorship thats get you three to four times the amount of exposure you were previoulsy recieving vs. a five hundred dollar sponsorship that gets you no other exposure what so ever. It could mean the difference in not getting cut after a tough fought loss vs. you lose and the "Promotion" invites you back anyway.
Basically, this is an invitation for the Swagger Impaired to step their game up and stop throwing salt on those of us that have already realized how important it is not to be the boring motherfuckas that they are. From the outside looking in, would you honestly pay money to see yourself, or better yet would you go out of your way to meet yourself? No. I dont mean just to see yourself fight, but would you even go out of your way to see "yourself" at the local 7-11. For those that answer this question honestly the answer would be about 70% yes to 30% no, most of the time. Maybe even 80 20. I'll tell everyone right here and now that being part of this lonely 30% is becoming a hassle. I work hard inside and outside of the gym so when I come across any opportunties I am gonna be all over it. I am trying to make a name for myself, period.
Step your game up people. This was written as a guide for the Swagger Impaired to realize that they are impaired and take action. The first step to recovery is to admit that they have a problem. Lets help them everyone. I hope they are not too far gone to even realize the severity of their condition which could be potentially damaging for the sport and entertainment as a whole.
p.s. Swagger Jackers, you need to kys ( kill yo self). More to come on you on another blog post.
